- It is an equipment made for retaining the hydrocarbon in suspension that could be in dirt waters. It is obligatory headed by a decanter that will retain the heavy material.
- The Spanish Water Law of 1985 and the corresponding local regulations forbid the spill of lubricant, oil and hydrocarbon, new or waste, in the surface, ground waters or in sewers.
- The hydrocarbon separators with coallescing cell are particularly advisable to treat waters before their spill in sensible zones (rivers, lakes, seas, etc.) or when the local regulation ask for some results higher than it is usual. These separators comply with the prEN858 European Regulation, separators of Class I (spill < 5mg/l).
